I'm a full-time college sophomore pursuing my B.A. in English with hopes of one day working as an editor. Cats, musicals, documentaries about cults/disasters/tragedies, and curse words are just a few of my favorite things. Also, check out our blog or I WILL FIND YOU.

Fallen (Lauren Kate's Fallen Series #1)

Fallen - Lauren Kate Y'know, I've thought time and time again about trying to reread this book and actually finish it now that I know this came from a book packager. When I know that's where a book comes from, it makes me wonder how much the author chose to write and how much the author had to write according to the outlines and such they were given. I think this book--no, this entire series--had great potential and could have been fantastic if written right. But was it a forced adherence to a trite formula that killed this book or was it the author simply not writing it well enough? That's what I've always wanted to know.Maybe I'll get around to rereading this one day. As it stands, I only made it through one-hundred pages and then skipped to the last chapter. Daniel was an asshole, Luce desperately needed a brain transplant, Cam was actually nice (and when the bad guy is as nice as him, what does that say about the "good" guy Daniel when he behaves like he has a vuvuzela constantly shoved up his ass), most everything else was dull, the plot did not exist, the writing was bland, and the plot twists were fairly obvious.
